Season’s greetings,
For all of you soon-to-be-married folks, this holiday season, consider the gift of… a prenuptial agreement! I’m only half-joking, but hear me out.
The truth is, the idea of a prenups have always made me uncomfortable. I think it’s because I’ve always associated them more with divorce than I do with happy marriages. But I’ve just learned that I’ve been thinking about this the wrong way. It turns out prenups aren't just for divorce. In fact, they can be a powerful tool for building a strong and financially secure marriage.
At least that’s what Aaron Thomas, an award-winning divorce attorney, author and founder of Prenups.com has taught me when I interviewed him for the latest episode of the Weird Finance podcast.
I’d love to hear about your own experiences with prenups. Don’t be shy; hit reply.

5. 📖 Has It Ever Been Harder to Make a Living As An Author? (Esquire) “If you're going to make it as a writer today, you have to be compelled to write regardless of how much money it's going to earn you […] because it's probably not going to earn you enough to only do that.”
6. 🏠 Ask These 11 Money Questions Before Moving In With Your Partner (The New York Times) “Approach money questions in a romantic relationship with the same care and consent as you do conversations about physical intimacy and each other’s sexual backgrounds. They can feel similarly sensitive as you move from one stage of reveal to the next, so try to ask each question with an empathetic smile.”
7. 🍲 ‘How do you reduce a national dish to a powder?’: the weird, secretive world of crisp flavours (The Guardian) “Crisp launches can act as a rough timeline of travel and immigration trends – only four Thai restaurants opened in the UK in the 1970s, but by 2003, there were 446. Today, Thai Sweet Chilli is one of the best-selling Walkers flavours in the UK.”
8. 💼 How Politics Became a Business (New Yorker) “No single development has altered the workings of American democracy in the last century so much as political consulting, an industry unknown before Campaigns, Inc. In the middle decades of the twentieth century, political consultants replaced party bosses as the wielders of political power gained not by votes but by money. Whitaker and Baxter were the first people to make politics a business. ‘Every voter, a consumer’ was the mantra of a latter-day consulting firm, but that idea came from Campaigns, Inc. Political management is now a diversified, multibillion-dollar industry of managers, speechwriters, pollsters, and advertisers who play a role in everything from this year’s Presidential race to the campaigns of the candidates for your local school committee.”

Hello friend, I grew up in a time when food delivery was mostly limited to pizza. You picked up the phone, called in an order, and if it didn’t get to you within 30 minutes, the pizza was free. This had to be the peak of pizza delivery. But everything in life changes. Fast forward to 2026: Pizza Hut has completely lost the plot. They tried to deploy AI to speed up delivery times, but instead it caused a cascade of problems that could end up costing them $100M in lawsuits filed by their...
Hello friend, Here are some numbers that caught my eye this week. Revenue between $10k - $50k and production costs between $30k - $80k. What emerging artists on the 2026 Coachella line up earn and spend in production costs. Compare that to headliners like Justin Beiber’s record-breaking $10M fee. After $500k - $2M in production costs, there’s still a hefty profit. $0.004. What Spotify pays per stream. In California, artists must rack up ~733,000 streams a month in order to earn minimum wage....
Hi there, I had a roommate who, at one point, was one of the most powerful assistants in Hollywood. She was 1 of 4 assistants and her life was chaotic, but when you’re in your twenties, you have the energy for it. One day I remember coming home, walking into the kitchen and seeing several deli platters full of uneaten food. There were multiple loaves of bread and packs of cigarettes. My immediate thought was, “Score.” “Where did all this come from?” I asked my roommate. She was standing in...
